The purification process of quartz sand is an important step to improve the quality of quartz sand filter material. Since the quartz sand raw material contains a lot of impurities at the beginning of mining, if it is not purified, it is easy to reduce the quality of the quartz sand. In order to meet industrial needs, we improve its grade through beneficiation. There are mainly the following purification methods

1. Washing and desliming
Scrubbing refers to the removal of thin film iron, bonded and muddy impurity minerals on the surface of quartz sand through the mechanical force between sand grains and the peeling force of abrasive grains, and further grinding of mineral aggregates without monomers, and then further purification of quartz sand through classification operations . Now there are mainly rod friction washing and mechanical scrubbing. The main factors affecting the scrubbing effect are the structural characteristics and configuration of the scrubbing machine; the secondary factors are the scrubbing time and scrubbing concentration (the scrubbing concentration is generally 50%-60%). There are mainly mechanical scrubbing, rod friction scrubbing, effective drug scrubbing, ultrasonic scrubbing and other methods.

2. Magnetic separation
Magnetic separation is mainly used to remove magnetic minerals in quartz sand. For example, weakly magnetic minerals such as hematite, limonite, and biotite can be removed by a strong magnetic separator, while strong magnetic minerals such as magnetite can be removed by a weak magnetic separator.

3. Flotation
Flotation is used to remove impurities such as feldspar and mica in quartz sand that cannot be removed by magnetic separation, and further improve its purity.

4. Acid leaching
Acid leaching can further purify the seasoning by making use of the fact that the seasoning is insoluble in acid (except HF acid), while other impurity minerals can be dissolved by the acid solution.

5. Microbial leaching
It refers to the use of microorganisms to remove thin film iron or impregnated iron on the surface of quartz sand particles. It is an emerging iron removal technology.

7,Color sorting
Color sorting helps ensure the quality and purity of quartz sand. Different colors might indicate impurities or variations in mineral composition. By using color sensors and imaging systems, manufacturers can identify and remove undesirable particles, ensuring that the final product meets quality standards.
