Challenges of R-PET optical sorting

  • Extremely light color differences are difficult to identify: In recent years, color sorters can efficiently distinguish most R-PET with obvious color differences, but it is difficult to accurately identify the differences between extremely light colors, which affects the purity and reuse value of recycled materials.
  • PET-G low-temperature materials are difficult to remove: As a low-temperature material, PET-G has similar physical properties to conventional PET, which makes it difficult for traditional material identification technology to accurately remove it from recycled materials. It not only increases the difficulty of subsequent processing, but also affects the quality of recycled products.
  • Food contact materials are difficult to identify: During the recycling process, common food contact materials such as PC, Tritan, and PPSU are often difficult to be effectively identified by color sorters and material machines because they have certain similarities with R-PET in appearance and material. The mixing of these materials poses a serious quality threat to recycled products.
